BREAST FEST
Louisville, KY –Get ready for Breast Fest, a week-long “breast-freeing” festival celebrating the Breast by creating
visual art and performance to move toward a culture that better supports women, children, & breastfeeding.
We wish to use visual and performance art to combine "lactivism", humor, and women’s stories to provide some
healthy "exposure" for breastfeeding, & an amazing aspect of women’s anatomy that deserves more honor & respect.
Breast-Fest is a collaboration between artists and activists including Angela Ramsey Robinson, & the Squallis Puppeteers
and was made possible by the Kentucky Foundation for Women. Photos are available.
· Friday July 27th 2007- 6-9pm Breast-Fest kicks off on with a visual art installation at
UzoMa Gallery for Frankfort Ave Gallery Hop. Squallis Puppeteers will also have large puppets and drummers.
· Monday-Friday August 6-10 - Each day, Monday through Friday during World Breast-feeding
week- free interactive art workshops are available for those who want to be involved. You
don’t have to be an artist to take part in making paper-mache breasts, sharing stories, or
planning a performance. Join in when you can, but please contact us at uzoma@sprynet.com or
squallispuppeteers@yahoo.com for workshops.
· Saturday, August 11 from noon to 6pm- performance at 3pm, this is the day to share
what we have made through the week with the public, support moms & babies with information
about breastfeeding, and generate awareness of breastfeeding in the public through stickers
and t-shirts. We will unveil our performance at 3pm.
