BREAST FEST

Free art-making and performance workshops*

August 6-10th

Angela Ramsey Robinson, uzoMa's founder, in partnership with  Squallis Puppeteers, Nora Christensen and Jess Myers

*Funded in part by an Art meets Activism grant through the Kentucky Foundation for Women

Workshops will take place in an open studio format during the entire week beginning August 6-10 at uzoMa. Anyone is welcome to come & participate, but we'd like to know if you plan to join in.

The actual schedule will be determined by the interest & needs of participants, but we're anticipating being available evenings from 6-9pm...with daytime opportunities as well.   In addition to contacting uzoMa or Squallis directly, you're invited to come to the Art Opening, July 27th, 6-9pm at uzoMa, 1813 Frankfort Avenue, coinciding with the fat friday, gallery trolley hop for information & to sign up.

Angela Ramsey Robinson, Art Therapist & the puppeteering duo of Squallis Puppeteers will facilitate the workshops together. We hope to provide a fun & and creative environment for telling stories, & making hands-on art & paper mache breasts, & possibly scenery that can be used as part of a performance we'll create together to debut 3pm during the Closing Party, August 11, 2007.

You do NOT have to be an artist to participate...& don't panic...you can even participate just in the art-making activities if you're "performance-shy!"

Come to one or all...but contact uzoMa now to hold your spot.

Along with making paper mache breasts, & creating a performance, one of the things we hope to do is promote the use of this breastfeeding icon.  By placing a sticker of this image in a window, a business can let nursing moms know they're "breastfeeding-friendly."

We'll help provide exposure for the image by silk-screening t-shirts, providing stickers, and eliciting a show of support from business owners.  So "lactivists"...here's your chance.

We hope to provide childcare if needed for workshop participants...but please give us a head's up.

Email Angela at uzoma@sprynet.com for details or any questions.
